Call for Papers

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Mauritius, invites researchers, academics, industry practitioners and postgraduate students to submit original and unpublished research papers to ELECOM 2027.

Conference Tracks

​

Track 1: Next-Generation Communication Systems and Networks

This track focuses on emerging communication technologies, advanced networking paradigms, and future communication infrastructures.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • 5G, 6G and beyond communication systems

  • Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial IoT and sensor networks

  • Wireless, mobile, satellite and non-terrestrial networks

  • Network architectures, protocols, optimisation and network slicing

  • Edge/cloud-native networking, virtualisation, security and quality of service (QoS)

Track 2: AI and Intelligent Engineering Systems

This track explores the application of artificial intelligence and intelligent computing techniques across engineering domains.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, explainable AI (XAI) and trustworthy AI

  • Signal, image, speech and multimedia processing

  • AI for communications, energy, control and industrial applications

  • Edge AI, embedded intelligence and real-time systems

  • Data-driven modelling, optimisation, digital twins and cyber-physical systems

Track 3: Computing Systems and Digital Technologies

This track addresses advances in software, computing platforms, digital systems and secure computing technologies.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Software engineering, software systems and applications

  • Distributed systems, cloud, edge and data platforms

  • Information systems, digital platforms and enterprise systems

  • Cybersecurity, privacy and secure computing

  • Human-centred computing, web and mobile applications

 

 

Track 4: Smart Energy and Electrified Power Systems

This track focuses on sustainable energy technologies, smart power systems and the electrification of modern infrastructure.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Smart grids, microgrids and grid modernisation

  • Renewable energy integration and energy storage systems

  • Power system analysis, stability, optimisation and resilience

  • Power electronics, converters and electric drives

  • Electrification, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure

 

 

Track 5: Automation, Control and Embedded Systems

This track covers developments in automation technologies, intelligent control, robotics and embedded engineering systems.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Control systems, modelling, system identification and measurement

  • Intelligent control, optimisation and autonomous systems

  • Robotics and industrial automation

  • Embedded and real-time systems

  • Cyber-physical systems and integrated engineering applications

 

 

Track 6: Engineering Education and Digital Transformation

This track explores innovation in engineering education and the impact of digital technologies on engineering practice and learning.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • AI and digital technologies in engineering education

  • Online, blended and technology-enhanced learning

  • Curriculum design and innovation in engineering education

  • Sustainable engineering education, circular economy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • Digital transformation in engineering practice and industry

 

 

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that are not currently under review elsewhere. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process conducted by members of the Technical Program Committee and external reviewers.

Submitted papers should clearly describe the research problem, methodology, results, and contributions to the field.

  • Paper Submission Deadline: 31 October 2026

  • Notification of Acceptance: 31 January 2027

  • Camera-Ready Submission: 20 February 2027

  • Author Registration/Early Registration Deadline: 25 February 2027

  • Conference Dates: 13–14 May 2027

Publication

Accepted and presented papers will be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore®, subject to meeting IEEE Xplore's scope, quality requirements, and publication policies.

Prospective authors are encouraged to prepare their manuscripts according to the conference author guidelines and submit their papers through the official submission system.
